Project Title: Energy and Building Modelling Researcher Project
Project Description:The client has recently designed and gained planning permission for a new indoor football training facility on behalf of DCFC at their Moor Farm training ground.

The primary envelope for the structure is to be of a tensile fabric material accompanied with a rainscreen cladding / curtain wall system to the front facade. Planning permission was granted by Erewash Borough Council earlier this year and at current this project is on hold which therefore provides a perfect opportunity for the ideal candidate to undertake building performance analysis.

This would involve determining the base energy efficiency for the current planning design and through performance based design discover intuitively how the overall whole building energy performance can be taken further and improved.

This could be gained through the means of running outcome driven simulations.

You will have total autonomy but will be liaising with both a member from the architectural practice and lecturers from Nottingham University. The final outcome is to provide a report and potentially deliver a presentation to the clients / DCFC to demonstrate the optimal recommendations that would provide a high-performance building that be fundamentally more efficient in every way possible.

  • Through a case study example, gained new / or improved knowledge on fundamental theory, specialist software and learn the foundations of building performance analysis

Skills Required:

Candidate experience
  • Postgraduate student / Researcher
  • Superb communication skills - English Language
  • Educated in architecture and specialises in the fields of environment and sustainability.
  • Knowledge of low energy consumption / low carbon buildings / passive design / creative energy homes / sustainable energy technologies
  • Knowledge of the building performance analysis process
  • Clear report writing / presentation skills
  • Independent working and
  • Full driving license with access to a vehicle
