Project Title: Graduate Centre Coordinator (x5)
Project Description:The Graduate School is seeking to recruit highly motivated postgraduate students with the knowledge, skills and experience to make a significant contribution to supporting one of the five Graduate Centres located at the University's campus sites in Nottingham.

The successful candidates will be required to manage the day-to-day running of their allocated Graduate Centre facilities, and to work in partnership with their line manager to administer a programme of activities for postgraduate students using the centre.

The role holders must be able to work effectively with a range of people across the university, and they will need to be flexible in their approach to work. They must be proactive and have the ability to work on their own initiative.

Placement Period: 17th September 2018 - 27th September 2019

Hours of Work: 10 hours per week (minimum 1 hour per day). Exact hours of work to be agreed with line manager.

Place of Work: To be based at one of the 5 Graduate Centres at either University Park, Medical School (QMC), Jubilee Campus or Sutton Bonington Campus in Nottingham.

Key area of Work & Outcomes of Placement

To provide support to the Researcher Training and Development Managers (RTDMs) and postgraduate students at one of the Graduate School's Graduate Centres, by promoting the Centre, ensuring a regular daily presence at them, dealing with general student queries, supporting local events, activities and Faculty training programmes and ensuring that the facilities are maintained to a high standard.

Outcome of placement:

The assigned Graduate Centre will be a vibrant and popular destination for Postgraduates that provides access to a range of dedicated researcher development activities and well maintained study and social areas, networked computers, seminar rooms and kitchen facilities.

Key relationships: Line managed by Researcher Training and Development Manager (RTDM), Other RTDMs, Other Graduate Centre Co-ordinators, Faculty/School PG reps, Graduate Centre users.

Skills Required - Knowledge and skills
  • Well-developed demonstrable communication skills - verbal and written. Ability to communicate with postgraduate student.
  • Knowledge of University student support services.
  • Knowledge of University administrative and academic structures.
  • IT skills, in particular Microsoft Office.
  • Independent and team working skills.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to prioritise and meet deadlines.
Skills Required - Experience
  • Experience of running events and projects.
  • Experience of working in a service-related environment
  • Experience of working independently and as a team member

You may indicate more than 1 centre. The coordinator role can also be offered on a job-share basis (therefore working 5 hours per week). *Hourly rate is 9.19 pounds plus 1.11 pounds holiday pay
